A Message From the DIO

Sean Nonnemaker, DO, FACOIA message from Sean Nonnemaker, DO, FACOI
Designated Institutional Official

Manatee Memorial's Residency Programs and GME, inclusive of Internal Medicine and Family Medicine, have been around since 2011. They were initially under American Osteopathic Association (AOA) supervision and now have successfully transitioned to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) platform. With unified goals to successfully train, support, embrace and retain our medical graduates, we hope to bring superior medical care to our local area. With firsthand exposure, our goal is to define and refine optimal medical care for our graduating residents. With this goal in mind, we know our patients will be in good hands now and into the future.

We use a complex curriculum to assist residents with their medical knowledge with intent for Board Certification, and we hope to provide the framework for their future career goals, whether they be clinical practice, academic medicine, research or administrative leadership. Being able to intertwine the residency program into the hospital logistics enables our residents to have direct observation of the healthcare model and how it functions. This provides excellent insight to help them guide their future paths and goals.

To further support our emphasis on education, Manatee Memorial welcomed our first Pharmacy Residents in 2018. This program is accredited by ASHP and approved for two PGY1 residents. A global understanding of hospital pharmaceuticals across the entire spectrum of acuity provides a thorough grasp of hospital care management. With a strong interconnection between our medical residents and pharmacy residents, we truly strive to provide comprehensive care and education to our patients.

Thank you for your interest in our GME programs. We look forward to redefining medicine through our continued advancement of patient-centered care and compassion.
