Providing an Invaluable Service

Jenny Grace, volunteerThe Volunteer Program at Manatee Memorial Hospital welcomes adults of all ages. Volunteers play a vital role at Manatee Memorial Hospital and are an important part of the hospital “family,” donating their time and talents and working closely to help make a hospital stay more comfortable for patients and their families.

Every volunteer brings their individual interests, talents and experience to the volunteer program, and each plays a unique and important role. Each prospective volunteer is interviewed and matched with the department of their choice based on the needs of the hospital. Once you have chosen your service area in the hospital, you will receive a thorough orientation and on-the-job training.

Christine NiffeniggerVolunteers are encouraged to work a minimum of one four-hour shift per week, but additional service is always accepted and appreciated. Our volunteers help in a variety of departments throughout the hospital, including our registration areas, nursing units, golf cart shuttle and many more.

As a volunteer, you will enjoy helping others and meeting new friends. For your time and efforts, volunteers are invited to an annual appreciation luncheon and a holiday luncheon, and they also receive a complimentary meal in the hospital cafeteria for each shift worked.
