Personalized Attention
Our Lifeline to the Future Is Our Children
At the Pediatric Center of Manatee Memorial Hospital, we never forget that we’re here to serve children. We’re trained to provide personalized attention 24 hours a day to patients that range in age from newborn to 18 years. Since medical procedures can cause stress in children as well as in their families, we work hard to create a relaxing environment and to make the hospital experience as pleasant as possible. We’ll work closely with you and your pediatrician, monitoring your child’s progress throughout their stay with us.
Jungle Theme
The Pediatric Center is designed around a colorful jungle theme. Located on the fourth floor of the main hospital building, the 15-bed unit was specially designed so that patients can be observed from a centrally located nursing station. Seven private and four semi-private rooms are available, each featuring a jungle-themed mural courtesy of Ringling School of Art and Design students.
Special Playroom Hideaway
Play is an integral part of a child’s growth and development and is encouraged in our specialty playroom. You’ll find a variety of fun and educational activities for your child including books, toys, video games and entertainment DVD’s. For children who are unable to utilize the playroom, activities can be brought to the bedside.
Meals
All meals and snacks will be provided for your child based on his/her physician’s nutritional plan. Family members are welcome to purchase meals in the cafeteria located on the first floor of the main building. Breastfeeding mothers will be provided meals during their child’s stay. If you prefer not to leave your child’s bedside, your nurse can assist you in purchasing and arranging meal deliveries to your room.

- Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
A hospital stay can be a scary time for children. That’s why we recommend visiting the Pediatric Center before your scheduled admission, if time permits. We find that this helps our young patients cope more positively. A pediatric nurse will provide you and your child with a personal
tour and help explain what to expect during your stay. This “hands-on” look at the hospital can empower your child, helping him/her overcome any fears he/she may have.
To schedule your tour, please call us at 745-7459.
We encourage parental involvement in our child’s medical care and invite you to stay with your child. A bed will be provided for a parent or grandparent should you decide to spend the night. Other family members and visitors are welcome to visit during our normal visiting hours from 1 – 8 p.m. Siblings under 12 years of age can visit by arrangement with your child’s nurse.
Complimentary wireless Internet access is available on the campus of Manatee Memorial for patients and visitors. Please see our admission booklet for additional information.
When you need to find a doctor for yourself or your family, our FREE Direct Doctors Plus physician referral service can help.
