EsophyX Incisionless Surgery

Incisionless SurgeryManatee Memorial Hospital is the first in Manatee County to offer EsophyX™, a new surgical choice for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or heartburn, without making any incisions in the patient’s body.

How Does It Work?

The EsophyX device is inserted into the body through the patient’s mouth using a standard endoscope, not through an incision. That means patients have no external skin incisions, no internal cutting, fewer adverse effects or complications and quicker recovery times.

Studies show an 80 percent improvement in quality of life and the reduction or elimination of heartburn symptoms among patients who have had the procedure.

Surgeons at Manatee Memorial Hospital use the EsophyX system to perform procedures that do not require incisions to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or heartburn.

The highly-trained surgeons are recognized nationally for their surgical expertise and offer comprehensive care for patients undergoing surgery.
Developed by Intuitive Surgical, the da Vinci® robot provides the look and feel of traditional “open” surgery, while minimizing risk of infection by eliminating the need for a long incision, thereby speeding recovery.
