Cardiovascular Surgery at Manatee Memorial Hospital Surgical Center

The Surgical Center at Manatee Memorial Hospital advanced cardiac and cardiovascular procedures, performed by a team of healthcare professionals who are highly trained and skilled in medical and surgical heart care.

Mitral Valve Repair and Replacement

When the heart's mitral valve doesn't close all the way, it can leak a small amount of blood. To correct this condition, cardiovascular surgeons at Manatee Memorial Hospital can perform surgery through the patient's breastbone and repair the mitral valve and create a tighter seal.

Aortic Valve Replacement

Aging and other factors can lead to blockages or leaks in the aortic valve. In this procedure, cardiac surgeons at Manatee Memorial Hospital make a small incision to replace the patient's aortic valve with a natural tissue or a mechanical valve.

Coronary Bypass Surgery

This procedure provides blood with a new pathway to the heart.
Surgeons attach a vein or artery from the patient's leg to the coronary artery, on either side of a blockage to redirect blood flow around the blockage. Some patients may have multiple blockages that need to be bypassed.

Atrial Fibrillation

Manatee Memorial Hospital offers advanced treatment for this heart rhythm disorder. MMH is one of the few hospitals to offer the Epicor™ Cardiac Ablation System that uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) energy to help correct this problem.

Endoscopic Vein Harvesting

In the past, when surgeons needed a vein or artery to use for coronary bypass surgery, they had to make a long incision in the patient's leg. Now, endoscopic vein harvesting requires one to three small incisions, each less than an inch in length. This can help lessen pain and provide a quicker recovery.
