Volunteer Opportunities
The helping hands and loving hearts of our volunteers provide an invaluable service to our patients and their families. Those who join may choose an area of service or times best suited to their talents and schedules. Based on your skills and interests, we will find just the right fit. Volunteers are always welcome.
Hospital volunteers serve in more than 50 different areas in a variety of capacities. They also serve at the Manatee Memorial Foundation Auxiliary Thrift Shop and Gift Shop and the hospital’s affiliates, FirstCare Medical Walk-In Clinic and the Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Center.
Manatee Memorial truly appreciates volunteers and recognizes their hard work in many ways, including a special Volunteer Week held each year. The staff is eager to train volunteers in a variety of tasks needed at the hospital and at our affiliate locations. All volunteers receive a thorough orientation about the hospital as part of their training. We offer a Summer Teen Volunteer Program for teens between the ages of 15 and 18. Contact our office at (941) 745-7287 for more information.
Manatee Memorial Foundation Auxiliary
Hospital volunteers are members of the Manatee Memorial Foundation Auxiliary, a nonprofit organization. The Manatee Memorial Foundation Auxiliary raises thousands of dollars for nursing and medical scholarships and local social service agencies through a variety of fundraising efforts. They also represent the hospital at special events.
Manatee Memorial Foundation Auxiliary Thrift Shop
Some volunteers operate the Manatee Memorial Foundation Auxiliary Thrift Shop where they perform a variety of tasks such as receiving item donations, assisting customers, pricing merchandise, repairing small appliances and ringing up sales. Money raised in the Manatee Memorial Foundation Auxiliary Thrift Shop is used to provide nursing and medical scholarships and to fund a variety of community service projects. It is located at 4517 Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton and is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., except until 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays. For more information, call (941) 745-2047.
