First Medical Resident Group at Manatee Memorial Hospital Receive White Coats on July 1st
June 27, 2011
The first medical residents in Manatee County will begin their three-year medical residency program at Manatee Memorial Hospital during a special White Coat Ceremony on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. in the hospital's Tower Auditorium. Community leaders, medical staff, hospital employees and families of residents will gather for this special presentation. The new medical school graduates are from around the country, and will begin their programs in internal medicine or family practice medicine. Residents will work under the guidance of experienced physicians, as they treat patients at Manatee Memorial Hospital, as well as in doctors' offices.
Catherine Cooper, DO, director of medical education, will supervise the residency program. Program directors include John Peters, DO, for internal medicine and Ronald Grubb, DO, for family practice medicine. Karen Koster is the administrative manager of graduate medical education.
"Manatee Memorial Hospital and the medical staff welcome the residents and we hope that some, if not all, will stay in the community and make Manatee County their home after they have finished the program," said Kevin DiLallo, Group Vice President, Universal Health Services, Inc., CEO, Manatee Healthcare System.
