The Manatee Memorial Foundation, Inc.

Helping people close to home ... now and in the future.

Established in 1992, the Manatee Memorial Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and was formed to support health-related needs of the Manatee County community. The Foundation's major emphasis is on healthcare needs within our community and scholarships for medical education.

We invite you to learn more about the Manatee Memorial Foundation and the many ways in which you can give your support.

Our Mission

The mission of Manatee Memorial Foundation is to offer support to individuals directly or indirectly that have health-related situations, support other not for profit agencies in reaching their fullest potential, and assist individuals to obtain their educational training. The Manatee Memorial Foundation recognizes the need to establish and maintain a steady flow of skilled medical personnel in Manatee County. Several partnerships have been forged with that in mind.

State College of Florida
Over a decade ago, an endowment was established in conjunction with the Manatee Community College Foundation to provide scholarships for nursing students and technicians. This endowment, together with matching state funds, continues today.

State College of Florida (East Campus)
The Manatee Memorial Foundation has funded the Manatee Technology and Simulation Center at the east campus in Lakewood Ranch. With an intensive care unit, a birthing room and science labs among others, the center offers classes for nursing students in a hospital-like setting and uses advanced technology to simulate medical scenarios. Each room is equipped with a high-tech mannequin that can physically simulate the human body.

University of South Florida Sarasota Manatee
In 2005, the Manatee Memorial Foundation partnered with USF Sarasota-Manatee to establish the Manatee Memorial Foundation College of Nursing Center. The foundation's gift provided advanced equipment upgrades at the Crosley campus location.

The foundation also provides funding to USF Sarasota-Manatee for the recruitment of nurses to further their education through the baccalaureate and master's degree programs in nursing at the regional campus. This partnership supports the growing demand for more nurses to serve our community.

Traditional Student Scholarships
The Manatee Memorial Foundation provides scholarship opportunities available for traditional students pursuing a medical career (i.e. nursing, radiologic technologists).

The Manatee Memorial Foundation offers grant funding to community organizations for health-related programs within Manatee county. In 2009, in addition to $30,000 for medical scholarships given to students attending local universities, local community organizations were recipients of monetary awards from the Manatee Memorial Foundation/Auxiliary totaling $340,000.

Auxiliary Thrift Shop
One source of our funds is the Manatee Memorial Foundation Thrift Shop located at 4517 Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton, which is operated by our Auxiliary volunteers. Donations are needed and accepted. Pick-up is available for large items such as furniture and working appliances. The Thrift Shop is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, or to arrange a furniture pick-up, call 941-745-2047.

Auxiliary Gift Shop
The MMH gift shop, located in the lobby of Manatee Memorial Hospital, is also operated by our Auxiliary volunteers. It is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 941-745-7398.

The commitment and generosity of our donors is a source of great strength for the Manatee Memorial Foundation, which supports our community with financial grants and college medical scholarships. Every gift we receive, large or small, brings the satisfaction of knowing that we are helping to improve the health and well-being of people in Manatee County, now and in the future.

Gifts or bequests to the Manatee Memorial Foundation qualify as donations to 501(c)3 organizations.
