Childbirth and Parenting Classes

MOMM's Place/Perinatal Education Class Schedule
July - December 2013

All classes are held at MOMM'S Place in the Perinatal Education Center, Outpatient Services Building, 250 Second Street East, Suite 3F (next to the hospital). Registration is required. Class sizes are limited. Class dates and prices are listed below and are subject to change.

Prepared Childbirth — Cost $70

Giving birth can be a physical, emotional and life-changing event. You'll learn how to deal with the discomforts of pregnancy, as well as how best to prepare for the physical and emotional challenges of childbirth during this four-week class for mothers and their partners. We'll also discuss current infant care practices, and give a tour of the Family BirthPlace at Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Time: 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Your Amazing Newborn — Cost $15

You'll learn about characteristics of newborn babies and recommended care for your infant. We'll also explore emotional changes and challenges that face new parents.

Introduction to Breastfeeding — Cost $15

We'll discuss benefits and preparation for breastfeeding your newborn. New moms are encouraged to invite their partners to this class.

Keeping Baby Safe — Cost $15

This class is an introduction to infant CPR, car seat safety and what to do in common emergencies.

Lowdown on Labor — Cost $50

A brief overview of the labor process is provided, including the mechanics of labor and pain management. We'll also discuss when to come to the hospital and what to expect when you arrive. Birth certificates, visitation hours and discharge teaching will be addressed.

Dates: One Saturday class

Mommy Yollet Classes

Yollet is designed to enhance the well-being of the body and soul of a pregnant woman. It combines the movements of yoga and ballet, to help strengthen your body and use the meditative qualities of yoga to enhance the relaxation of your mind. Please call and check on dates.

Time: 5:00 – 6:00 p.m
