GME Traditional Rotating Internship

Manatee Memorial Hospital (MMH) has a strong commitment to training primary care physicians in their transitional year. Interns accepted into the Traditional Rotating Internship will follow the track approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). The curriculum will include participation in each of the services listed below for the minimum time specified. MMH adheres to the program requirements of the AOA. Osteopathic Principals and Practices will be incorporated into the curriculum in each department.

Some variation is possible within the AOA guidelines. Subspecialty electives offered by a broad-based MMH faculty are available.

Typical Block Rotation Schedule for Traditional Rotating Internship

  • General Internal Medicine – 8 weeks
  • House Officer Internal Medicine – 8 weeks
  • General Surgery – 4 weeks
  • Family Practice – 4 weeks
  • Pulmonary Medicine – 4 weeks
  • OB/GYN (ambulatory GYN) – 4 weeks
  • Emergency Medicine – 4 weeks
  • Nephrology – 4 weeks
  • Cardiology – 4 weeks
  • Elective – 8 weeks
