Bradenton, Florida - The recently opened Manatee Healthcare Systems Phlebotomy Institute will offer an 8-week class in phlebotomy beginning may 1, 2010, announced Rei Lopez, Administrative Director of Laboratory Services at Manatee Healthcare System. The program is designed to provide training to students who are pursuing a career in phlebotomy or related healthcare professions.
The program at the hospital-based phlebotomy school will include 40 hours of classroom training and 120 hours of practical training in a hospital setting. The program will be held five times a year and classes will be small in size to provide individual attention. The cost of the class is $700.
After fulfilling the program requirements, students will receive a certificate of completion and will be eligible to take the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification exam for Phlebotomy Technician PBT. This is the only locally administered program that enables graduates to immediately to sit for this national certification exam.
