Bradenton, FL — John and Melba Coe's anniversary was a very healthy occasion this year. They not only celebrated their 68th year of marriage but they both received a total hip replacement on the same day at Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Patrick Grablin, orthopedic surgeon with Manatee Memorial Hospital performed both surgeries on Tuesday, May 18. John, age 91 received surgery on the right and Melba, age 90 on the left.
The couple was able to spend their anniversary together after the surgeries since they were placed in the same patient room. The hospital's food and nutrition staff provided a special dinner to mark their anniversary.
Both patients will be leaving the hospital for rehabilitation today.
